Personally, I'd be opting for another service with a dedicated number.

Exactly and that kind of reliable source I am looking for.
On the positive side, shared ips or telephone numbers help the muddy the waters for investigations.
As several people have used the numbers for different purporses.

I absolutely agree.

Have you tried any of these?

I haven't, they look very good but going through them quickly, looks they provide US/Canada or UK numbers.
So not something that I need at the moment.

Further update:
Calls and messages come through from regular numbers but it did not work twice, for receiving a message from popular email provider and a carrier.

Looking at how much some people charge for a single message (5 GBP), it looks like doing the manual work could make for a decent business if you have good hardware and a decent website setup. Especially if you offer services for countries where people have to register their ID to get a sim card working.
You absolutely could make some decent legit money from doing that. What countries do you need ID to get a sim card working ?

Can you vouch for this service ?

Quite a lot of countries apparently, require registering to get a sim card:

I knew of a few countries. Looking into it, it seems registration is more common in the world than not.
In some countries, they even take fingerprints or face scans!

Thats an interesting list, shocking to see how many actually ask for ID. Hoping this practice does not become more pervasive.

Guess that it will under the guise of protecting the populace against terrorism or whatever. Not many countries even in developed Europe where you can get one without an ID.

It's strange to hear you guys that you are struggling with such things as getting a SMS number. Like in my country, I can go to a local store and buy them for 1 euro each, no need to provide any information.
I don't believe in what I say. Everything is just fictional and made for a good laugh.

I don't answer PM.

Sadly the case with most countries. However you can try buying a number that's already registered from someone else. It's what I did travelling in China recently when they wouldn't sell me a sim card because I was a foreigner.

In many European countries you have to register with your ID in the store which means you have to give them your details. The problem isn't only to get them but to attain them anonymously. It would be preferable if you could access legit numbers (no BS free online sim) in a convenient way for example through an online platform or app if you use multiple sims.

Regarding vyke, I got a warning from my phone that it tried to access my camera..
