No offence man, but both are ugly. You need to find better color schemes and having the categories minimized is useless, they're an important part of the theme, and I'd just like to ask. Have you heard of http://Developer.sx, some things seem to reflect it.
Oh, and remember. You asked for criticisms, so I gave them honestly. Don't back-fire me with flame.
Also using a CSS Changer for colors is pointless, HMU if you'd like to buy my color changer script.

Dire looks awesome, however I'll tell you what I got told when I started making themes. Make a better logo. Weirdly, having a nice logo for a nice theme elaborates the features in a theme. Don't ask me how it works because I have no clue, but after a while (and many arguments later) I realized they were right.

I really like the Dire Theme. The colours look really nice and balanced with that one.

The Deviance looks kinda messy atm. I know you said it was unfinished so I'll wait until it's done before I pass judgement.

I think BreShiE is right. The logo is an extension of the theme. It sets the feel for what the page should look like. If the logo looks professional and sleek, you would expect the rest of the page to follow that style. Take SL for example. We have a 3D logo with a textured background. Naturally the buttons and icons are 3D and the site sits on this textured background. I think this is pretty obvious stuff though. The Dire theme seems to follow it's logo with exception for the fact there's more texture on the rest of the page and the logo is very simple.

I modified Deviance when he showed me it to be a bit cleaner. And changed out the logo. But I personally think Dire looks pretty freaking neat as is, in the monochrome black and white version.

I do like Dire quite a lot. In all the colours xD Including the monochrome.

For Dire, it's only the grey logo that's a problem for me. The logo for Deviance however is terrible for that particular theme. However as you said it is not finished yet. Awaiting finished copy.

The theme is a lot sexier than screenshots, with modern features like, a "scroll up" header.

Looks fine.
What I'd change/improve:

• Proper align the navigation.
  
• Remove tborder on tcat.
  
• Change the color of the first forumbit with the icons. It's a bit too dark.
  
• Align the "stats" text.
  
• Change the background color of the stats boxes. It's a bit too much green imo. How about darker ones with inset box-shadow to give it a bit more depth?
  
• New expcolimages. Maybe try to do them with CSS.

yeah, deviance seems a little awkward since it's like a sector of your screen, and then just cuts off.
