I wanted to ask about a possible SE opportunity with Amazon.

I have an M1 macbook pro, and there's currently a newer M2 macbook pro. It just recently released but it's essentially the same laptop physically but with a different processor inside. I wanted to ask if there's a way to SE this newer model by simply returning it by putting my older used macbook into the box. I've had this laptop for about a year but it's in pretty much perfect condition. You wouldn't be able to tell the difference if you just opened the box. I'm not sure how amazon processes macbook returns but I doubt they open and turn on the laptop, click settings, and double check the processor... unless they do??

How could/would I go about doing an SE like this?

(Also, I remember reading a guide of sorts that explained all the SE-related terms and basics but I can't, for the life of me, find it anymore. A link to it would be greatly appreciated).

Amazon Is very meticulous with checking returns, so there's every chance they'll notice It.

The DNA Is the obvious choice, but find out If an OTP will be required on delivery.

You're much better off hitting any other store but Amazon since they're seriously check-in returns lately

Any local shop that has young, underpaid employees, that don't know or care about tech?

As for this, I did read about the DNA method but since this would be my first SE, I'd rather not go that route just yet. I'd like to do more research before trying it.

I just got the idea after I saw the announcement about how the new laptop is literally the same, minus just a new chip drop, so was having ideas with swapping devices essentially.

As for OTP, not sure but probably. I haven't really bought any high priced items from amazon, but I do have a lot of good history. But for now, I'll probably pass on using Amazon.

This seems like a possible idea that I might try and pursue. What kind of stores do you have in mind for "local shops"? I have a BestBuy and a Micro center, which are probably the most likely stores to have these laptops in stock. Of course, there's also the apple store, and there I think there might be one in a mall I have nearby.

Also I live in the US, if that helps.
