I reccomend the empty box method using dry ice. But remember the dry ice may be evaporating visably and the postal carrier may identify that the box is an SE box attempt.

All this effort for nothing, it is a pity.

It's hardly noticeable when the box Is sealed.

It'll just take longer to sublimate.

Thought I should make an update to this particular SE. Oooh boy, did I underestimate how challenging this would actually be. It was a lot of back and forth between the rep that was assigned to me and myself. About a solid month of emails that went nowhere. Everything was going smoothly, all of the corrupting and misguiding. Then the rep was deathly insistent on sending in the laptop, saying it was ok to send a laptop with a bulging battery. Even after mentioning that it was getting worse and worse, he kept insisting.

After feeling a bit lost and hopeless, I gave up and stopped replying. Took a break from the scene to reflect, abandoning this thread. Sorry to dissapoint those who were wanting to see this succeed, haha. I gave up right before the height of coronavirus and am kicking myself for that. It would've been much easier to play off not wanting to go to the post office then. In hindsight, maybe I shouldn't have tried this with my very limited SE'ing experience. Every failure is a chance to learn and grow, I guess. To anyone wanting to attempt to SE Lenovo, learn from my mistakes and capitalize on the climate of our world right now.

Take the positive out of the negative.

You're now well aware of what "not to do" the next time around.

Very much so, yeah. I'll stick to my comfort zone until I get more experience. Thanks for helping me throughout the whole ordeal though.

Gonna SE one of the new RTX cards, so I'll be around

You're most welcome.

You will find that with every SE (namely those with a successful outcome), your confidence level Increases to some degree. Over time, SEing will become second nature.

if you know your post office well, you can come in with say 4 big ish boxes to send in a big bag, scan them all and get the receipts (including your return laptop for example) put them back into the bag every time you scan.. usually they will point to a window for you to put your boxes into..because your boxes are big they will ask to leave under it or round the corner etc.. then you simply walk over to that window and only take out 3 of your boxes and place those under the counter or wherever (they never look at what you're doing as they are handling the next customer), keeping the receipt and essentially sending nothing with proof of receipt. Another thing to consider is they would probably keep CCTV for a month in those places (in the v unlikely even of a cctv investigation), so wait for a month just to be sure and ask them have they received it yet? This has worked with a number of different stores for me with obvious easy refunds after persisting it was lost in the returns process.

no need to go through all that lengthy process

Wouldn't the carrier scan the packages at the collection point, and deem that only 3 boxes were collected and not 4?

The reason i tried this was for this exact reason.. i returned a Hermes package and it never even got scanned.. i'm assuming the driver stole it.. and no one cared. I got a refund anyway because i scanned it in.
With 'RoyalMail 24/48hr signed for' service their tracking also only tracks the scanning of the item in and the signature on arrival. So I guess Hermes and Royal Mail are both good candidates for this..
