It may well be just to raise awareness.

There's a huge fluctuation In price. They probably drop It to entice consumers to purchase. The consumer then tells friends just how good It Is, but only to find the price has Increased to 200$. A nice profit Is made thereafter.

It could be a number of reasons. It's hard to say without prior analysis.
