RE: Kali in a VM / USB - Problems #11
You could try if youre on a MAC to run Kali in Parallels Desktop http://www.parallels.com/eu/products/desktop/
I run Ubuntu in Parallels Desktop without any issues.

I could try, but wouldnt it be the same as chmod_ explained above?

As for your WiFi trouble the only way around it is with a USB adapter due to the way VM's work any active connection is seen as a wired (ethernet) interface and as such can't be used for WiFi based attacks. To be honest though although I use Linux as my daily OS whenever I test wireless networks I always use a USB adaptor as they have much better antennas which gets a better signal (plus not all cards are capable of packet injection anyway, so some simply can't be used regardless)

RE: Kali in a VM / USB - Installation Problem Windows 8 #14
Apologies in advance,
With many efforts in trying to get a multiboot usb with use of YUMI, holding Deft, liberte, ReMnux and Ophcrack. When Attempting to boot from usb, Windows 8 bypasses the usb(position one in boot order) then boots windows like no ones watching.

What was done to resolve this with no luck.

In BIOS, secure boot was disabled in order to adjust both segments, with usb as the first position.

Ensured the above listed were fully installed on the usb not just downloaded.

Much appreciation would be an understatement of the gratitude which will occur if the solution to this enigma is resolved.

-note the model in use has no cd/dvd drive, only usb and hd ports.
-works with no problem on other machines running windows xp or 7/vista

Instead of using a boot order use boot select and select your usb drive instead of depending on it finding it in position 1.
