Even if he did the specs are terrible. i bought it for $300 and that was 4 years ago. It must be around 100 new now. aha. Haven't heard back from him now and he hasn't charged back either.

Most likely this. I'd grab that in a heartbeat, cause I'd just fix it up, and use it. In fact I recently went to a Garage Sale, and this lady was selling a very dated looking laptop. The keyboard was missing keys, it was giving an error on boot-up. She let me have it for about $10. Invested a little money for a keyboard, installed linux on it, and it's good as new. ^_^

It's well dated to be honest. It's just a bare bones CL Linux, which will work just perfectly for what I am going to use it for. So it really doesn't run that slow. If I were to do like Mint/Ubuntu or any with a GUI it'd probably run really slow. If I can be bothered I'll post pics later, but it's big, grey and heavy.
