Is sex really important in relationships? 12-27-2013, 03:29 AM

 I can't imagine being in a relationship that doesn't involve sex (at least after 3 months). This act is such a perk, a way to release stress and get close to someone. Yet, I keep reading articles on how people have successful marriages that do not involve sex.
What do you think?

It's an absolute MUST. It's not what the relationship is about, but that wasn't the question was it? Sex relieves stress and constantly reminds the couple how close and intimate they are/have become. Super important.

Personally I am asexual,
sex is important to people with a sex drive.
I mean if it happens it happens,
but you shouldn't pursue it.
It shouldn't be on your mind.

If you ask me sex is an important thing in some successful relationships because of the fact that it shows that you still have interest.

I think you do not need sex in a relationship I also think it is unhealthy to base the relationship strictly on sex. There needs to be more to a relationship than sex! I would say do not have sex until you are married or have been together a long time and you want it to be a committed relationship, most guys and girls only will date somebody for a piece of action.
"I prepare for the noble war. I'm calm; I know the secret. I know what's coming, and I know no one can stop me, including myself. I kill people I like. Some of them beg for their life. I don't feel sad. I don't feel anything."...

I think sex is an important part of a relationship, but not the most important part at all. And a couple should only have sex if they love each other and plan on being together for a while, in my opinion, anyway.
Sex isn't that important to me. Sometimes I wish my boyfriend would want to have LESS sex with me because it does get depressing when he wants to do it ALL the time, especially when it seems like that is the only thing we do to spend time together. We work different shifts and don't get to spend much time together. The only time we really see each other is in the bedroom.

I've heard many times that if there isn't enough sex in a relationship, the relationship goes down hill, but I could care less if I had a girlfriend and she didn't want sex. As long it is a good relationship and she loves me back as much as I love her and she is loyal, I am fine with that.
EDIT: My previous girlfriend had her moments when she didn't want to do anything sexual with me and it didn't bother me what so ever. I just masturbated, ha.

I think it brings you closer but I think it isn't necessary, you should never pressure someone into doing it also.
