RE: In Store Pickup #11
Use caution if using sealed box method in person, especially with apple products, and even more so if paying with cash/getting a cash refund (for anonymity purposes). I highly recommend undertaking a dry run first

Just from personal experience

Sealed box seems risky to a certain extent. Obviously they can find the item is not there / has been replaced but can not prove that I had any doing in it.

What they can prove and what they will assume are two completely different things.

Same as when your in court, it's not what you say, but how you say it.

Just my two cents. All I'm saying is do your research first and be cautious.

Of course. In store pickup is not something I've ever done personally, but I was curious if anyone else around had experience with it and how they pushed the boundaries.

With high value Items, It's almost certain that they'll open the box to verify Its contents.

Otherwise, you're good to go with low to medium value Items.

Price of the item apart. They are right.
If you do the sealed method and then sent the item back, if they will check it how do they know that was it was you to did it?
Unless the courier inspects the package when it comes in his hands, opened it, and checking it (it's never happened and it won't ever happen), you haven't control of the package during the shipment/warehouse/couriers/hands/company's employ.
It may happen everything basically.

^ Not at all.

The point of the sealed box method, Is to return the box as per Its manufacturer's state. If there's no signs of tampering nor any type of Inconsistencies, then they'd have no reason to check. As such, they'll place It back Into stock with the rest of their Inventory and a refund/replacement will be Issued thereafter. What happens from this point forward, Is not tied/linked to you.

I've performed this on countless occasions (both online and In-store) without fail.

I would imagine if you were to seal an Apple product with the wrapping and it looks just like the real one they would not open it up and check it. It would seem as if you have not even opened the box before returning.
My thinking is that they would want to sell it as new, and if it appears to be new they wouldn't want to devalue the product. Maybe my train of thought is wrong so please share more.

If I were Apple, I would check each return.
Even if they are sealed, I would unwrap them and wrap them again. I don't think they have to do use plastic envelopes frugally.

And I think they do it. The feeling of receiving a different item, than what you paid for (so much money) would give to the customer an enormous bad image of the company. Apple can't afford this.

So would you place another item inside of the package at that point and reseal the item then?
