Hello all,
i've been using Turbo c++ compiler for c and c++ programs in Windows 7...
recently, i switched to ubuntu... i want a similar compiler program for linux but i got gcc and g++ which i've to use from terminal.... i don't want it.... is there any similar compiler as turbo c++ (i googled but not found), i used geany and codeblocks for ide's.....
and the second favour i want to ask is what is the difference of writing c on turbo c++ to gcc/g++ in linux (a header file issue or what)

You are looking for a C++ IDE (not a compiler), check these:
- Anjuta
- Code::Blocks
- Eclipse CDT
- CodeLite
- Geany
- KDevelop
- NetBeans C/C++ pack
- MonoDevelop

Or just search for "C++ IDE for linux", I personally don't use IDEs but if I had to I would choose Eclipse or NetBeans (for no professional reason)

About your second question, well... as I rememeber, Turbo C++ have some customized libraries, which is not a bad thing of course, the most important thing is that both support standard C/C++ (C++0x or C++11) (which I am sure they do)

but i already know that... i want a compiler (if there is other than gcc/g++) not IDE's because i am actually using it.For second problem is that if we define for e.g. #include<iostream.h> in turbo c++ what is the difference that i have to remove .h to compile in g++??how much g++ is different from turbo c++ in syntax..... :Confused:

No I don't know of another C++ compiler for Linux (why not just use what everyone else are using... GCC/G++), anyway this is not my business :p (maybe you are thinking "oh dear this guy talks a lot"), and you are right lol

Your second question is ... I think easy to answer:
In C we MUST add the .h part (file extension), in C++ we don't, but we could (it's optional I think...)!

Compilers SHOULD NOT differ in handling the syntax, because the languge (C/C++ standards f.e. C++11) is what define the syntax/grammar... unless if it is Microsoft of course, they always have to screw up things with thier "code-secure-phobia"... anyway!

Please excuse my lame sense of humor, and my horroble English...

You should Definitely try Code::Blocks, It's by far the best IDE I've used for C++ on Linux..

compiling/building in code::blocks...

Yup!! i saved it ... but the actual problem is it is not recognizing conio...!! :Embarrassed:

Because conio.h is not a standard library... You will have to include it in you project manually or to the environment!
