Huawei experiences?? #1
Anyone had any experiences of SE'ing Huawei?

I'm currently in the process of EB'ing an item. I'm still pretty new to social engineering, so I may make a few silly mistakes along the way - but it's okay. If it fails I can always return the item or sell it for the money back depending on its value.

I'd  appreciate reading your experiences/successes (if any).  Smile

I messed this one up, Mothered. I ordered Buds which weigh only 16g, but the total weight of the buds box is 265g - well over the recommended limit of 120g. In hindsight, I should've said that just the ear buds were missing from within the buds box. Instead, I said the product as a whole was missing. It came with a free case as well which I claimed was present. I know I should've weighed the buds box to make sure it was under 120g, but since the buds were so light I didn't think the box would be that heavy. I contacted them and weighed the box after.

I spoke to someone on chat whom requested images of the "empty box" and forwarded my claim to another department. I received an email from the complaints department the next day. The guy said they have "started investigating my claim of a missing order, will check CCTV footage of the order being packed and compare weights taken by the warehouse and the courier upon collection of the order". He also said, " We will also speak to the courier who has confirmed that the order was delivered without issue".

He attached a missing item declaration form to the email and asked me to fill it in if I still haven't received my full order, so they can add it to my claim. He asked me what outcome I would like if my claim is successful and said that they can either refund the amount of the missing item or replace it if it is in stock.

I filled in the form, sent it back and I'm now just awaiting for their reply. Worse comes to worst, I'll just say someone in the house opened the package, got me confused and I've found them or something.

Anyway, lesson learnt for next time. I've only recently begun SE'ing and didn't think it through properly.

We live and we learn.
If you want to track back, just say your family played a prank on you by taking your earphones out in an attempt to scare the shit out of you.
Otherwise it’s up to you to follow up with your story and harass until they process it.

Yes, that's what I was thinking too. Perhaps I will just back track and say that they have been found. Depends on what their reply is, although I do very much doubt that this will be a successful claim.

Thank you so much for your advice Smile

^ That's precisely what you should've done.

16 grams will not be detected on shipping scales.

If you had've claimed the earbuds were not In the box, It would render CCTV footage Inconclusive.

At 16 grams, there's nothing to compare.

EB'ing an Item, has no relevance to the carrier successfully delivering the package.

Obviously you need to receive the package to claim the contents were not enclosed.

Hopefully a brain-dead rep makes the final decision on the claim.

Simply say that a family member opened the package In your absence, took the Item and told you about It after you put In the claim.

@mothered

I received a reply today:

We were sorry that your ordered items appeared to be  incomplete.

We take such things very seriously and investigate fully with the logistics team and our delivery partners.

We have several fail-safes and checks in place to prevent fraud and theft and to protect our customers from such.

In this case we found that the CCTV footage taken (at all  our depots) show the items being placed correctly within the correct packaging.

When we investigated further we found that the weight of the posted and delivered package (all parcels and packages are weighed at post and delivery) to be correct also.

From our perspective the ordered items were packaged and delivered correctly and as such we can offer no explanation for the missing item(s) nor can we offer a replacement or a refund.

We are sure that this is not what you hoped to hear but our thorough investigations have not suggested that any mistake or error was made in the delivery process to you.

If you have any suggestions as to how this situation came to be after the delivery then we would be more than happy to listen and try to help further but for now all indicators available to us point to the package/delivery being correct.

First time this guy emailed me, he addressed me by a completely different title. Although, he could clearly see which title I selected when I placed my order. He got my name right, just the title wrong. I corrected him and he apologised.

And today, he ignorantly addressed me by a completely different name. People often don’t read my name properly and mistake my four letter name and pronounce it as a completely different five letter name which has an extra letter and absolutely no relation to my name.

I’m quite annoyed because firstly this rep can’t be bothered to check my name and incorrectly assumed my gender, has been corrected, and then still address me by a different name. And I should take his word as the final word that yes, the item wasn’t missing?

He does ask whether I have any suggestions as to what may have happened. Any ideas, @mothered?

Absolutely. We learn from our mistakes.
Thanks, Mothered. 🙂

^ This Is a prime example of why you should've said the Items were missing from the box - CCTV cameras cannot detect the enclosed contents.

Did you mention the condition of the package when you received It?

Depending on your answer to my question above, you can say that the package arrived damaged, which Indicates It was tampered with and your Item was stolen just before It arrived at your address.
