How to use DogeAPI in your application (Part 1 of 3)
Part 1 will focus on basic commands and no API Keys
Part 2 will focus on more advanced commands using API Keys
Part 3 will focus on applying this in an application.

This is more of a general tutorial opposed to a code oriented one.

http://DogeApi.com is basically an online wallet which allows you to interact with it remotely.
You can get an API Key by registering on their website.

An API call will look something like this https://www.dogeapi.com/wow/?api_key={AP...a={ACTION}
There are also some functions which don't need an API Key. These functions are get_difficulty, get_current_block, and get_current_price.

The API call for get_difficulty will look like this: https://www.dogeapi.com/wow/?a=get_difficulty and will return a the difficulty. There are no parameters.
get_current_block will look like this https://www.dogeapi.com/wow/?a=get_current_block and will return the last block mined.

One of my favorite calls in called get_current_price. It can look something like this https://dogeapi.com/wow/?a=get_current_price. It ill return the price of 1 DogeCoin in USD.It has optional parameters &convert_to={BTC or USD}&amount_doge={Amount} That call will look like https://dogeapi.com/wow/?a=get_current_p..._doge=1000 it will convert the price of 1000 DogeCoins to USD and return the value.

What is it using to determine the value in USD, exactly?

Almost 100% sure it monitors Cryptsy and other exchanges and then pulls an average.

Ahh, okay. That's acceptable then, if it was using one and done as a comparison, that'd be asking for abuse.
