How to get in a car accident that isn't legally my fault? #1
Sorry if this doesn't exactly fit the "social engineering" aspect, but it may.

Got in a car accident a few weeks ago that was my fault. I don't have collision coverage, and repairs are gonna be ~$5k.

Any ideas on how I can get somebody to hit me/get in an accident where I'm not at fault so their insurance will pay for it?

For example, where I used to live there was an intersection where 95% of the cars going in a certain direction would turn right at (think a lane running South to North, drivers would turn East). Everyone turning left (i.e South) from the lane (that runs West - East) those cars would turn into would turn early, expecting they wouldn't get hit because the car coming at them would just be turning also. You could easily just make a few passes and go straight instead of turning and get into an accident that isn't your fault because everyone expects the turn

Any suggestions?

Can’t lie, if you drove properly you wouldn’t need to pay out. Also no do not put anyones life at risk by scamming them by making them crash into you.

What you're asking is dangerous and also incredibly unethical. There's the possibility you get injured and you cause someone else's rates to increase. If their vehicle is damaged and you're found to have caused the collision intentionally, you'll only make your situation worse.

If you were seriously considering doing this, you've already stated the obvious. You'd need someone to damage your car in a situation where a collision was caused and you aren't at blame. Doing this with an already damaged vehicle seems incredibly silly. I'd highly recommend seeking financing or a loan instead.

Thinking like this is why my insurance rates have doubled over the past 5 years. Financial aspect aside, you're likely to injure someone else so you can get them to pay for your initial mistake. Gonna have to adult this one and pay for your car to get fixed.

Personally, it depends really.

In my experience if you live in the UK I have done this a couple of times when it comes to false accidents I had an inside man that worked at Tesco as a delivery driver and the deal was for him to hit me but in a safe manner, meaning where there was no one else around, and Tesco is known to pay out almost immediately when it comes to their drivers being in accidents and our agreement was that we'd split it 60/40

not the cost of the car being written off but we'd make health claims through an insider at a gp who would just sign off documents for around £100 for each person in the vehicle and we were able to claim around 2000 each and this would not really have an impact on our insurance or the general price of personal insurance as it Tesco's driver insurance is fleet insurance and not personal car insurance.

I would highly advise that you do not involve a random civilian in this because I do not support benefitting from individuals losses, when it comes to Tesco it's a multi billion pound company so when I used to carry this out I didn’t care about the loss they would incur
