How to block websites. #1
Hello!
So I currently use a mac and I like to block websites that my friends go on when they come over to my house(porn).Do NOT mess around with the command that we will be using called sudo because you could mess up your mac.Perhaps if you successfully hack into a mac you can run this command and block sites such as Facebook.

Requirements
A mac

Step 1.
Go open terminal. You can do that by searching it on spot light at the very right corner next to your name.

Step 2.
Type sudo nano /etc/hosts
Then type your password.

You should see something like this or similar.

Then type
127.0.0.1 www.yourwebsite.com
127.0.0.1 yourwebsite.com
Make sure you type it in different ways because sometimes you can access to the websites.

Step 3.
Once you typed your website you want to block.hit control and o at the same time.
Then hit enter

Now close terminal. This should show up but still close it.

Step 4.
Now visit the website you typed.Oh look what you see! :epic:

If you have hacked into someones mac and have control perhaps you can try this! :Thumbs-Up:

the http:// is not necessary and may actually be problematic. Http specifes a protocol but your host files is used to resolve a domain to an ip. The reason you may need to type it in different ways is because: www.somewebsite.com is a different domain(and potentially totally different website) than somewebsite.com.

The http is unnecessary www and any other subdomain is not.

Also exact some procedure for any Unix, BSD, or Linux variant. On Windows you can use notepad(as admin) and C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\host

Add to that... this is not "blocking" it is redirecting to a dead, to block websites you can use the firewall of the OS (any OS), or the one you "may" find in the router (AP or Router), this was you will actually block the website and if you use the router's firewall (I hate this expression) then you can block the website to the entire network!

Nevertheless, your idea is OK, because it will make a naive user thinks that the website is actually down and not blocked! (which is an extra advantage of your method)

Thanks for sharing, happy blocking Smile
