How far would you drive for a job? 01-28-2014, 12:35 AM
#1
I have been looking for another job. The first bite I got after posting my resume on Monster.com was from a company an hour drive away. Although the job is doable, the distance is scary to me.
The reason I am contemplating this position is because my bills piled up last year and I have been paying them off. Although I have made progress, there's much more work to get done.
How far would you drive for a job?
My interview is tomorrow.

As far as the job will cover my gasoline and actually allow me to make a decent living.

I won't go for jobs that are too far away. For one, driving such a distance wastes my gas and time. Living too far away from the workplace leaves too much room for unexpected events. There might be jams, accidents, and etc. along the way that can further delay my arrival so I have to give extra travel time.

Using a car, I'd take a job that is 1-2 hours away.

For a job like monster, if its a distributing job you may or may not get paid by the miles you drive, and I wouldn't take the job if its less than $12 an hr
