How do chargebacks work? #1
Say I have 3 American Express credit cards. Two are Visa and one is Mastercard.
If I do a bunch of chargebacks on the American Express Mastercard, will I get backlisted on just that 1 card, all my American Express cards ,or all of Mastercard cards?

forgot to include @mothered can you help with this?

The situation you proposed is not possible considering AMEX is a card issuer and a payment processor lol..... Amex doesn't work with visa or Mastercard.

The forum is going downhill.

I have many SEs I would like to share with other contributors. Unfortunately, that is a very small percentage of the overall community, and getting smaller by the day. I have no incentive to contribute publicly and reward the undeserving. If you feel the same and would like to discuss privately, please reach out.

Does anyone know if it’s risky doing 2 chargebacks within months of doing one

Most likely it will be ok. But it probably varies, from what I have heard it is a combination of # of transactions between disputes, time between disputes, amount disputed, dispute history with the company, transaction history with the company, and probably several other factors I am not aware of or can't remember.

Thank you, as you can tell I don't know anything about credit cards, I only have a single one and have never done a chargeback.

I think you understand what I'm asking though, will I get banned from all credit cards if I do to many chargebacks or just whatever card I did the chargebacks on?

Do they all belong to the same bank/financial Institution?

Good question. I'm researching it now.
From what I understand, The four major credit card networks are American Express, Discover, Mastercard and Visa.
So I guess if you do to many chargebacks on American Express, you would be banned from using all credit cards with American Express, but that should not effect the other 3, unless it somehow goes on the credit score or something.

On the subject of chargebacks, why are they thought of as an ace in the sleeve if all else fails. I've never done one but surely if the company after investigation deems you to by lying the b@nk will just side with their findings? Or is it a case of say you MEB apple watch and they say it was delivered fine even if they can't actually prove it, the b@nkk will say due to lack of evidence we will side with the individual (the SE'er). And do paypal disputes usually work the same way or are they typically harder to win?

I also have never done one but from what ive read they tend to side with the customer, but if you do to many you get blacklisted and that never goes away.
You can SE 10 stores and be good but if you do 10 chargebacks you will likely get blacklisted and never be able to chargeback again.

This may be a question for @mothered then. Technically speaking if you was to MEB a apple watch ultra from apple/ amazon or wherever. Once they inevitably asK for the PR, if they refuse beyond that it would be a chargeback/paypal dispute and that would be the trick up your sleeve? Because realistically they have no evidence to disprove you and you've gone above and beyond to get the PR.

Side note whilst I have your expertise, is paypal as good as chargebacks or are chargebacks the gold Standard? I ask because you could rotate between chargebacks and disputes to space them out even more seen as they're different establishments.
