Hi, I'm Tom #1
Hi everyone,

So a couple of months ago, after having had an interest in computers for a long time, I finally decided to try to learn to program. Seeing as I found the ability to create mobile apps very cool, I started with Java.

Unfortunately the past few months I've also been very busy with finishing up stuff for my bachelor's degree (in psychology) so I haven't had a lot of free time. However I'm almost done with that so I'm hoping that in the upcoming (temporary) loads of free time things will progress a lot faster.

I'm currently almost done with following the free course on programming that's provided on youtube (search: cs106) by stanford university (which by the way is an awesome course with an awesome instructor). Next up is probably a MOOC I found on creating android apps.

The reason I'm signing up to this forum is that it will hopefully help motivate in self-studying so I can increase my programming knowledge in a rapid pace over the summer. Why hacking? Well I've always had a bit of a fascination with hacking. I did various innocent small time script kiddie hacking in the past (cheat engine, rats, bots, DDOS, etc). I have quite a lot of knowledge on poker strategy, so if I could make a poker bot in the future that would be very cool, however beyond that my interests in hacking is mostly out of curiosity. I think most hackers have a cool mind set , and most of the them are primarily self taught. That's probably the main reason I'm signing up.

Anyhow sorry for the long post! And hope to see you around!

By the way protocool, since you've, mentioned it are there any courses in specific that you really enjoyed/found helpful when you started? Preferably on Java (or android related material), or else on C(++)/html/python/general programming?
