It's the laptop box/packaging that's of relevance.

The method has one of the highest success rates.

If there's no signs of tampering whatsoever, It will not give them reason to check the return.

The box will not be opened on return, so add anything you like.
Okay thanks, but I edited my last message maybe while you were typing yours, what do you think about what I asked about my account being "ruined" if I give up and decide to legit return the article ?
And another question (yeah sorry..) if I change my mind and still decide to go for it, if, IF it's not properly sealed enough and they decide to open it, and see that I put books or whatever inside, could I still return the laptop and get my refund, even if it costs me to be banned or whatever ? As long as I get my refund, even if I "lose" the SE. This one is very important because if there's a way out I might go for it.

Yes, I was splitting your comments at the time of the edit.
I see It now.

You haven't started the SE, correct?
(01-15-2022, 04:29 AM)betalactame Wrote: edit : actually I don't feel confident for it because of the weight difference
For the reason mentioned In my previous post, there will not be a variance In weight.

Nope I haven't started it yet.
So just two questions :
- If I give up and go for a legit refund, will my clean account be "ruined" because of that ?
- If I don't give up and go for the sealed box method, and that by any chance they find out the item is not in its box (but replaced with I don't know what yet to make it worse), is there still a possibility that I get a refund by legit send back the item with another package ?
I think that's all for the moment, thanks in advance, I know that's a lot of things to answer.

The SE has yet to make a start, so a legit return that's within the company's refund policy, will not affect your account.

If the sealed box method happens to fail, yes, you can still return the original Item for a refund.
I've discussed how It's done In a few threads. Well cross that bridge If we come to It.

Okay good to know then, could you link me one of these threads or briefly describe how I could still get a refund even if they found out the laptop has been replaced with some books or something like that ?

Here's the
thread and my post as per below.
Quote:It depends on the reason with the Initial sealed box return.
For Instance, If It was a change of mind, you'd later say that after carefully opening the box and looking at the product (and changed your mind about It), you were In a rush and mistakenly placed something else Inside and securely closed It. You can then return the original one for a refund.
The wording used Is very Important. I've highlighted carefully opening the box and securely closed It to justify the return In Its original form. At the end of the day, the sealed box doesn't raise suspicion under the above circumstances - It's entirely your choice If you wish to be pedantic and reseal It.
Adding to the above pertaining to justifying why you resealed It to perfection, simply say that you wanted to make sure there's no Issues with the refund, If a damaged box Is returned.

Okay thanks, but even if I'm supposed to be in a rush wouldn't it be pretty unbelievable that I placed to weights and a book inside the box so it can match the weight of the computer ? I thought about another story, I'd like to have your opinion... I don't have children, but if they found out the thing, I was thinking about a story like, I made this laptop as a gift for the birthday of my son, and he changed his mind, hence the return, but he's the one who made the "exchange" so he could secretly keep the laptop and sell it or I don't know. Like he's the one who resealed it and all, and I apologize and blabla and please can you accept that I return you the laptop ? Something like that, I would appear very surprised and all to learn that the laptop is not inside the box.

Replace It with an old/used PC.
As such, It's easily mistaken.

Good thought.
There are so many different approaches that can be used. My previous post serves as a general example, which should be manipulated to one's circumstances/environment.

Okay thanks. The laptop is inside a small box, which is itself in a bigger box (not the packaging one), the seal was on that box, not the smallest one. The smallest box wasn't initially sealed but I still carefully and soberly put two well-cut pieces of tape on it, so even if they open the first box that I cleanly resealed, they'll be in front of another sealed box. I did that as a "protection", but this second layer of sealing is not supposed to be there, but maybe the guys who could check it are not supposed (?) to know that, so is this a good idea ?

Yes, I fully understand Its packaging - I've hit many sealed box methods under similar circumstances, but without altering Its original condition.
In terms of your SE, If the employees In the Inwards goods centre are not familiar with Its packaging, It will certainly work to your advantage. Fingers crossed It's the case.
