Hey, just found this place, seemed interesting enough to make an account. well, the thing said I had to in order to keep reading. so here I am.
There's something weird going on with the registration form . The human verification question gets stuck. For a minute, I thought the security question was to exploit the javascript on the field, so I'm looking in devtools and trying to figure out the trick. Anyway, my attention span dropped off and I just opened a new window and started over and it wasn't that, so, at any rate, I don't have any insight as to how to replicate the error or what might be wrong with it specifically, sorry.
Anyway, web development for around a decade, I've been focusing my continued learning heavily on security and system administration lately as I felt the job somewhat under-stimulating in those areas and most people in it far too ignorant of how big the attack surface they're building. heard a lot of "just slash your input and you don't have to worry about that" over the years. I'm especially interested in how technology can be used to protect against forces of oppression. so cryptography, tor, etc.
I came into a stack of android phones recently. A friend of mine keeps finding them around places, but they usually are reset and locked out. So I had to figure out that puzzle which got me reading about that. I learned 2 things, 1) phone security updates are 90% to secure the phone against it's "owner" and 2) for a company that size, google is impressively inept at creating a working firmware reset protection.
so yeah... nice to meet you all.
