This isn't your typical mech simulator , this is a fast paced FPS mech game more akin to arena shooters like Unreal Tournament or Quake Arena than Call of Duty or Counter Strike. You have to learn to play within the restrictions of the mech such as turn rate caps, fuel levels, speeds, and so forth. This makes for some very rewarding combat that puts skill above all else. And before you ask yes you can purchase mechs, internals, and items with real world currency this doesn't give you an advantage unless you've taken the time to get good with the mech, weapon, or whatever you've purchased. There is no best mech or anything like so you've got nothing to worry about there.

Hawken also has one of the best F2P models I've seen since the only content that is locked behind a pay wall is cosmetics only. Everything else can be purchased with currency you earn in-game and the earn rates aren't bad at all plus the team is still implementing more ways to earn Hawken Credits.

This is definitely worth a look for anyone looking for a good fast paced FPS and you can't argue with the price of free. Hopefully the game won't be on Early Access for long with the Nemesis Bundle so as many people as possible can try it out and see what Hawken is all about.
