[ Bukkit Plugins ]
Guide Index:
- Introduction -
In this guide you will find a list of Bukkit Plugins that in my personal opinion, based on my own experience, should be implemented on your server. If you disagree with the plugins that are listed, please read the end of this thread before posting a reply, please.
- NoCheatPlus -
NoCheatPlus is an unofficial fork of the famous anti-cheat plugin NoCheat created by Evenprime. NoCheatPlus attempts to enforce "vanilla Minecraft" mechanics, as well as preventing players from abusing weaknesses in Minecraft or its protocol, making your server safer. Organized in different sections, various checks are performed to test players doing, covering a wide range including flying and speeding, fighting hacks, fast block breaking and nukers, inventory hacks, chat spam and other types of malicious behaviour. For a more complete list have a look at the Features Page.
NoCheatPlus still puts emphasis on configurability and allows you to alter all actions that are carried out when a player fails a check, according to your needs. So you can just have players actions be silently cancelled, log their actions to in-game chat or files, or let arbitrary commands be executed, all possible to be differentiated by the level of violation. Many aspects can be configured on a per world basis as well, there are plenty of bypass permissions for individual checks and you can also alter other aspects such as allowed speeds for walking, sprinting, flying, and more!
Certainly NoCheatPlus is not a magical bullet, it uses a lot of heuristics and even guessing mixed with exact analysis as well as rather statistical judgement methods, so you will encounter false positives here and there and also not catch every single violation. One of the strengths of NoCheatPlus is the configurability, if your server happens to get many false positives you can apart from filing a support request also lessen the punishments by configuration or even deactivate the check if you want to allow players doing something.
Protective plugins also have to take part in the classical cat and mice play, expect hack clients to update now and then, forcing protection plugins to also update, if you find any flaws or uncovered hacks, you can help us improving the plugin by telling us!
- Essentials -
The Essentials plugin is available in a number of different bundles, and the various modules can be configured to give a unique server experience, tailored to your server and your players.
Essentials offers over 100 commands and features useful on just about every server, from kits to mob spawning.
- World-Guard -
WorldGuard is a powerful plugin providing all the little things (and some big ones), and it protects your servers from various problems.
- Block creeper and wither block damage, falling damage, etc.;
- Disable fire spread, lava fire spread, ice formation, Endermen picking up blocks, etc.;
- Blacklist certain items and blocks so they can't be used;
- Warn moderators when certain items and blocks are used;
- Protect areas of your world so only certain people can build in them;
- Set areas where PVP, TNT, mob damage, and other features are disabled;
- Protect your server from various 'exploits' like magical obsidian creation machines;
- Disable, or enable, various Minecraft features, like sponges from classic;
- Add useful commands like an immediate "STOP ALL FIRE SPREAD" command.
- Enable only features you want! Everything is off by default.
- ClearLag -
This plugin is made for small servers to big servers, it's made to remove all entities to prevent/clear lag. Of course this plugin can't fix all lag, but it does clear most of it. If you're using a larger server with 20+ players using the /lagg clear command will drastically decrease RAM usage, depending on the type of lag your servers experiencing.
- Permission support
- Entity limiter
- Reduces lag
- Decreasing RAM usage
- Can stop a TNT chain reaction
- One simple command
- Very lightweight
- Can be ran automatically by console
- Can adjust times when the server is cleared of lagg
- configurable removal
- iConomy Chest-Shop -
A simple, yet very powerful system for making physical shops using signs and chests.
It's never been that easy to create shops! With features like shop protection and anti-lag protection, you won't have to worry about your server's economy anymore!
"Just works"! Don't worry about your economy plugin, ChestShop supports all of them - iConomy, BOSEconomy and more (you can install Vault to use other economy plugins).
- Factions -
This plugin allows you to create your own faction. The more followers a faction has the more land the faction can claim. The risk for griefing is low in claimed land since only the faction followers can build there. Factions can forge alliances and declare themselves enemies with others. Land may be taken from other factions through war.
- mcMMO -
The goal of mcMMO is to take core Minecraft game mechanics and expand them into add an extensive and quality RPG experience. Everything in mcMMO has been carefully thought out and is constantly being improved upon. Currently, mcMMO adds thirteen unique skills to train and level in. Each of these skills is highly customizable through our configuration files, allowing server admins to tweak mcMMO to best suit the needs of his or her server. Additionally, when run in conjuction with SpoutPlugin, mcMMO also has a custom XP bar to allow for easy tracking of progress towards leveling up. Know that the mcMMO team is dedicated to providing an ever-evolving experience, and that we carefully read all feedback and bug reports in order to evaluate and balance the mechanics of mcMMO in every update.
This will conclude my guide on Bukkit plugins. If you wish to download any of the plugins listed above, refer to the "Guide Index" at the top of this thread, and you will find a hyperlink to all of these plugins. I would also like to say one more time that these are my own personal opinion, if you feel that any of these plugins should be removed from the list, or some should be added then please leave which plugin(s) should be removed/added, and a reason why.
I did not write the description for the plugins, nor did I design the graphics. I did however take over an hour to put this thread together, if you read this I would appreciate it if you left some feedback. I have several other Minecraft guides I am currently writing coming soon.
