Gravedigging = Shitty Reasoning #1
Alright, I've had patience for long enough and now It's just getting annoying so I'm going to say this now.

Why the fuck is gravedigging an allowed excuse for negative reputation?

If you honestly get mad because someone accidentally or possibly purposely posted an old thread of yours then that's a personal problem, no need to make someone look bad for it.

What if the person posting on the thread was making a correction that someone had yet to make?
Or he/she accidentally forgot to look at what date the thread was made?
Or the person that posted was a noob and didn't know?

Regardless,
the worst excuse for "grave-digging" should be a private message at the most. Giving a negative reputation for it is just fucking childish and abusing your privilege to give someone reputation.

Honestly, the reputation system is very lenient. I could easily make restrictions as to why people can't give you reputation, but that wouldn't really help. They can just as easily change their reason from "grave-digging" to "I dislike this user." If someone has a negative opinion of you because of your post-etiquette, that's their deal. Go and complain to the person who left you rep.

Pfft, I'd rather have something more reasonable like not liking the user rather than a skiddy excuse such as grave-digging.

Also if you ever question why sinisterly isn't as active as it used to be, this is probably one of the many reasons.

To be honest, this thread is childish. It is a rule. You abide by it. The rule of no grave-digging has good reason because it wouldn't be a rule if it didn't.

I'm very tempted to neg you for just complaining about rep.

Let me explain to you what the 'reputation' system is.

The reputation system is a place where people can leave feedback about another person, and what they think about that person. If someone dislikes you for digging up an old thread, that's the same as saying "I dislike you because you bumped an old thread of mine that had been dead for almost a year" which is a completely reasonable thing to neg someone for. Its your job as a user on this site to check the thread date. If its older than one month, don't fucking bump it.

tl;dr: You have to pay for your crimes. Don't be a nigger.

BlueScreen nigged me for grave digging in the security section on a thread that was created 2 months ago. I admit I didn't check the rules, but I never see new content in that section and I commented on a nice tutorial which was on was on the first page, is that not good enough, or do we just let the section die out?

The security section isn't dead. The most recent thread created there was yesterday, and considering we get on average 38.22 threads per day, thats pretty active.

Besides, remove the post and I'll remove the -3.

I don't see one thread created in Feb. I see a thread called

"I will scream at the next person who tells me macs are secure"

Which is 2nd on the list created in Oct 2013. I'm not going to remove my post because I posted on a quality thread and I don't care about reputation on a forum.

Then don't complain, fair and simple.

And @OP, I checked your rep and you seem to have a lot of neg for that reason, so maybe take it as a hint and stop doing it.
