Google has now made It easier for users to understand how their data Is utilized. The fact of using Google and It's related products, devices and services Is not good practice to begin with. As a starting point, here's a few of my (very basic) recommendations on how to prevent/control Google from tracking your activity:
- Stating the obvious, do not use Google's search engine. Period.
- Do not login to your Google (Gmail) account and "remain" logged In. Google uses your Gmail account to Identify you whilst logged In.
- Check your activity settings In your Google account- you can control what's saved.
- In My Activity of your Google account, view all privacy settings and disable/delete those that track you.
- To eliminate the above, do not use Google's products and services (Android OS, apps and so forth).
Onto the thread's topic:
Quote:An update seeks to make your privacy and security settings easier to navigate and understand.
If you're tired of hunting aimlessly for privacy information in your Google account settings, this announcement is for you.
Google has made account settings easier to navigate and understand, the company said Thursday in a blog post.
"We always want to make sure that people feel in control of what data they're sharing data with Google," Tamar Yehoshua, the Google vice president who oversees account security, said in an interview. "It's important to us that they understand what they're signing up for."
The changes have been in place for a week. Android users can now search all settings within the Google Account hub to find specific topics, use a revamped interface to navigate privacy settings more easily and receive more noticeable notifications when Google thinks there might be something wrong with your account.
