Getting a 22lr #1
Even though I already have a couple guns I decided to head down to the gun shop and ask about the Mossberg Plinkster 702 Semi Automatic 22LR and they can get it in for me at $170 so I will be grabbing that next month. All I need is a background check which I will pass because I am not a criminal or anything and do not plan to be.

I am going to use this gun for target shooting and during hard times small game hunting for food.

People underestimate the power of a 22LR but it is proven to be lethal at over 400 yards and it can drop just about any size animal or person if it came down to self defense or anything like that hopefully it never comes down to that but if needed for example someone breaking in my house with weapons then I will not hesitate to shoot them to protect my family.

I like the fact that is is semi auto because if I miss I can immediately press the trigger again up to 10 times to hit my target.

There is good reviews on this gun but everyone says stay away from the extended clip 25 rounds. If you are interested in guns take a look at this one but if you buy it please be safe and use it responsibly.

I like my 10/22. It's fun to shoot, reliable, and the bx 25 magazines made BY Ruger for it are flawless. I went for the tactical version of the 10/22, because I like the way it looks, I like the weight, and I like the flash hider/threaded barrel.

Ruger 10/22 is nice but it is more expensive, and the Mossberg is proven slightly more accurate then the 10/22.

Tactical looks does not really interest me. As long as I can throw paracord on it and throw it over my shoulders then I do not care.

For me a 10 round mag is plenty because I plan to buy additional mags and keep them loaded and ready to go. Plus if you don't hit your target with 10 rounds something is very wrong. 1 Round maybe 2 should be plenty.

I hope you have impeccable shot placement if you ever planned to use that for self defense, lol.

I got my 10/22 for under $200 new, and they have plenty of variations of the 10/22 platform other than the "tactical" variation. The aftermarket for the 10/22 is huge too.

I'm not saying the plinkster is a bad rifle at all. I just opted for the 10/22 when I was doing my shopping. Honestly, part of the reason is because I have another Ruger that I'm quite happy with.

I honestly don't think you can go wrong w/ a .22LR rifle for under 200 bucks. You'll have a lot of fun with that.

The way I see it is if you want options, accessories, the 10/22 is the way to go.

If you want a rifle that does the job nothing special but works then get the 702.

Both are good choices but because I am in the budget range of everything my choice is the 702 and I do not care about accessories, etc as long as it can handle a scope and gets at least 2" groupings then I am fine. Because either way in that 2 inches whatever it hits is either going to die or go down. (if it is a living thing).

People under the right shooting conditions seems to get the 702 to shoot 1" groupings and the 10/22 about 1.5" which are both pretty good for being semi automatic it will be hard to get any better then that with a semi automatic.

But I do have an old Daisy Model 8 Bolt Action 22LR which seems to be fairly accurate considering it was a $30 rifle from the 80s.
