I'd definitely go with the missing item method and claim that the package was damaged, the photo the courier has taken will help your case as it shows that the package has been tampered with and doesn't show that the item is actually inside the packaging.

The weight is irrelevant when using the damaged package method, you're trying to make it seem as though the package was tampered with during transit.

All you need to do is contact Currys stating the desktop you purchased is missing from the packaging and mention that the package looked tampered with, but don't go into much detail. Like I said, the photo the courier took of your parcel is going to help your claim significantly because it looks tampered with from the one photo they took.
