From my personal experience, I never had a game that the Lenovo Y50 couldn't handle. Runs GTAV no problem.

Man, you can really go all-out with that budget on a gaming laptop.

I'm personally a fan of the New Razer Blade. The 512GB version is 2.2K, leaivng you 300$ to play around with for accessories

Don't really like the Lenovo's, My brother and I both have one of their laptops and we found that they fall apart quite easily over time

I like Razer, but personally for budget with quality I've aways preferred ASUS ROG G-Series laptops. Check this one out. It's a bit ugly (not a fan of silver/metal laptops) but its great power at a greater price.

Also yea....don't go with Lenovo. Not only do I have bad experience with them, my school uses them and even the computer illiterates hate them.

They have some nice and durable business laptops, like the X1 Carbon or otherwise, but overall the build quality on their 'Ideapads' and lower-end hardware is horrid. That includes their gaming laptops.

If I were getting a business laptop that's thin etc I might consider Lenovo, otherwise they suck

Gigabyte is coming out with a new 14in gaming ultrabook with a 970m and a skylake i7, you might want to check that out. Being so small I would assume the cooling will be kind of shit though.

The specs aren't bad at all, however Acer has some bad rep among the gaming community (forgot why). Not to mention it looks ugly as hell. But if you aren't bothered by that, then congrats, specs are pretty good, and it gets the job done. (Also airflow looks beautiful)

Had alright experiences with Asus, Alienware, and Acer. Would recommend Lenovo. Consider building a desktop instead, as you could build a really nice one for that much.

I personally had a Y510P and it worked awesome. As you said, very few games you can't throw at them.
