Hello,
A quick question for those who tried this method or have any insight into it.
I have a faulty 3080 GPU, and I was thinking of ordering the same make and model, from Ebay, and swapping them. I would change the SN and return it as faulty. Does that sound stupid or could it work?

Update: Did the swap. They requested pictures before they'd accept the return. Sent them. They're saying they have pictures of the item prior to shipping it and that they don't match mine. "The screws and two resistors are in different positions in my pictures" - which...they aren't.  I checked thoroughly. I'll keep pushing them to see what happens.

Why did you not swap and send it back as a normal return? Do they thorough check returns?

Good recommendation.
They aren't going to put a GPU into a PC to test it, no way.

Well, as soon as they received the return, they opened a case with Ebay , and by the time I woke up, my account was already suspended indefinitely )
Ebay sided with them without giving me a chance to appeal. They said I didn't follow their "abusive buyer policy" because I filled excessive returns claiming the item wasn't as described.
It's literally my first-ever return on a 7-year-old account.

I opened a chargeback dispute because now am I actually pissed at Ebay.

This might've been a better idea, but I think they would still check it thoroughly. They're quite adamant about winning this case.

Incredible. Maybe they have been hit before, and it isn't a big corp seller? The smaller the company gets the more personal it becomes for them.
