GPU SE #1
Hello everyone!

I've been involved in the SEing scene a few years back and stopped but with the current GPU situation I felt it would be a good time to return!

I have a serial number for a GPU but i'm not sure if I should register it online and instead contact the manufacturer and provide them with the serial # that way. Also I am assuming it'll be RMA but I'm guessing the best option to use is the sealed box method. Any tips for advanced RMA these days? Any help would be appreciated!

I assume you physically have the GPU, and not purely the serial number.

If so and In terms of the sealed box method, Is the box fully covered In cardboard on all 6 sides?

Sorry I should have said I don't actually have the GPU. I don't have a box yet but with this company from what I've been reading online you have to pay for the shipping yourself to an EU country. Is the sealed box method where I put in dry ice to equal weight of the product, seal the box, then remove the seal and reseal it with different tape to make it look like someone has intercepted my return?

Just read your website and I've got the methods mixed up! It's the boxing method I intend to use.

The boxing method works In one of two ways.

If the Item Is extremely light to not register a weight on consignment, you'd send the box/package on Its own with nothing Inside. On the other hand, If the Item Is rather heavy, you'd substitute the Item weight with dry Ice.

The item weighs just shy of 2.5kg. Do you think I should fake a receipt or continue with the gift method? Thanks for your advice appreciate it!

It's quite heavy and If you've never used dry Ice as the weight substitute, It can be somewhat difficult to calculate the sublimation time.

Both are equally effective.

If you're familiar with each method, be sure to remain adamant and persevere throughout the entire SE, and do not take "no" for an answer under any circumstances.

Could I put something in that’s of equal weight instead of dry ice?

Never really tried the sublimation method. I’m now actually considering just buying one off Amazon and going down the route of DNA after reading a few threads on here.

On-topic of the boxing method, the Issue Is that your Item Is quite heavy to add something other than dry Ice.

Clear or brown packaging tape can be added, which Is consistent with what carrier drivers use at their depot and (some) carry It during their deliveries. This makes It appear as though the driver tampered with It, but as said, your Item's weight Is the Issue.

As long as an OTP (One-Time Password) Is not required on delivery, you're good to go.

Okay I have better insight into this now thanks. How do I know if OTP will be requested by Amazon or is it pot luck?

You're usually told In advance.

If It's not the case, simply call them as a very concerned (legit) customer who wants to make sure the package will be delivered & received correctly, and then ask how It will be verified on your end - just to give the Impression that you want to confirm that nothing will go wrong.
