I'm still confused so I thought maybe somebody could spell it out to me. I understand a lot of things but I just want to make sure I'm doing it right.

Amazon lists a Graphics Card and says the ITEM weight is 658g (1.4 pounds) but the shipping weight is listed at 839g (1.8 pounds). Do I have to make sure the parcel I return (when using wrong item received) is 658g (1.4 pounds) or 839g (1.8 pounds)? Are the company looking at the total weight of the parcel + item or just the item?

I'm just confused because I'm not sure what the company are comparing to make sure the 'wrong item received' checks out.

Need a confirmation on this as well, I just assumed it was the shipping weight that was weighed. Since I assume the dimensions and the weight only included the GPU and not the other components of it (e.g retail box, cd's, packaging).

Yeah, it makes no sense to me either.

When we send an item back as 'wrong item received' are we aiming for the weight of the entire package to be similar to the one they sent or are we aiming for the weight of the item inside the package (e.g. graphics card) to be the same item weight as the original they sent us?

It's the "Item weight" that's of relevance with every SE.

The "shipping weight" Is the packaging AND the Item combined. Match the Item weight, and the shipping weight will not change.

Thank you. That does make more sense to me overall.

You're welcome.

The retailer can pack It as they please, which Is of no significance when SEing. You have no Involvement with their packaging, but every bit with the Item, so always focus on the Item.

I ordered a GPU.

The Amazon 'item weight' said 658g
The Amazon 'shipping weight' said 839g

It arrived. I weighed the GPU my self, in it's retail box and the result was 855g.

I'm very confused now as the 855g is 200g more than the 'item weight' that I was told to focus on. Instead, it is more like the shipping weight rather than the item weight. Is it possible that in the UK, the shipping weight is the weight of the item they're sending you, irregardless of the packaging?

okay so i took out my 1070 and put it in the box and went on amazon to find it and it displays as 450g item weight and 1.7kg shipping weight. i weighed both the gpu in the box and by itself. gpu was 1.05 kg and with the box it weighed 1.7kg. guess im going to go with shipping weight for this.
