FTID - dead or not? #1
I'm curious.

I heard a lot of bad things about FTID. Now I have to say, I used this method externally (through refunders, not by myself), and it constantly worked out fine.
I don't know if one version of FTID is the absolute worst one, or it's the method altogether, but I did have good results with it (maybe bc of good luck?)

It wasn't with Amazon though. Does it also mean that FTID is (almost) dead with said store and less/not dead with others? Curious about your experiences.

I never had problems with FTID so far, If it didn't work on one store try on other one or try different FTID method, I don't know why FTID is getting so much hate here to be honest

From my limited perspective, it seems to be the most commonly failed method and @mothered has denounced it plenty.

I'm never the one to completely denounce methods. However FTID is much more tedious and prone to failure than traditional methods such as boxing and resealing. Different carriers handle packages differently, so you will have to research what to omit from labels (even though they all get scanned anyways?) Then there is the weight difference on consignment. On top of that, you will be dependent on the company disposing of the package once its sent. There are so many variables in a proper FTID that you are better off looking into different methods for SEing. However, if it works for you then I can't argue against that. Never knock someone's hustle.

Maybe it's dead for some of us, but alive for others.

I've yet to come across "others" - not a single SEer who can provide evidence that the method works consistently against the majority of companies that're traditionally targeted.

I dont know what kind of evidence you need but this year I SEd a Lenovo monitor, a Ryzen 5900x cpu and a XFX 6900XT gpu from Amazon, some Bose headphones, a Xbox Series X, a PS5 and a Dyson vacuum cleaner using the ftid method. The method works if you know what you are doing. My failures using this method was with Microsoft after we raped them for several Surface Laptops i7/32gb/1tb/13’5” with gtx 1660 gpus. But the companies are catching up so the method is less effective than it used to be.

As stated:

In other words, evidence of the flawed FTID succeeding with companies of all shapes & sizes - just like other methods do, such as the wrong Item received, missing Item, DNA, partial, boxing and so forth. Obviously It's not the case with the so-called FTID.
