The Federal Trade Commission launchs an investigation involving Facebook violating a government privacy agreement by allowing Cambridge Analytica to obtain users personal data, imo , privacy and social media(facebook), won't get along.

RE: FTC investigates facebook users data handling #2
People that think that Facebook isn't collecting 'big data' so to speak and isn't selling it is naive. It doesn't surprise me that an article like this shows up and I also highly doubt that it'll be the last one to show up. Facebook has more than enough money to cover any court costs. Probably the amount of money they receive from these firms is far greater than what they'll lose if they get caught.

I cannot fathom why people utilize Facebook to share their personal Information at the disposal of the entire globe.

They (Facebook) seem to operate In contradiction:
Quote:“We remain strongly committed to protecting people’s information,”

Quote:Facebook agreed to the settlement, known as a consent decree, in 2011, after allegedly deceiving users over how much personal information they were sharing.
