Dualshock 4 switch? 01-30-2020, 10:10 AM
#1
Looking for a new DS4 controller. I have a broken one here, can i buy the same colour, and switch the code panel on the back, clean up the controller, and send that back? Chances of success? It's only £50 but i'm doing this more for the successful SE feeling more than anything.
Thanks in advance

What method are you planning to use?
Claim that the new controller Is broken, send your old one back and obtain a refund thereafter?

Ive done this loads of times. Argos are normally quite difficult to SE when ordering online.
Easy one for me is Xbox/PS4 headphones or controllers sold on ebay as faulty but still come with original box.
I just walk instore currys / argos anywhere that sells them return 20 mins later with the one I purchased from ebay including the box and get my refund. So simple face to face because they remember you buying it
Hope this helps

Based on the above and on the grounds that It appears Identical to the new controller, I don't see how this could fail.
Unless of course, they check whether It's functional, which I highly doubt.

I doubt they would even notice if they only tested it for a minute or so. It's the right stick that doesn't work when playing games where you have to run. I will post an update here of the outcome anyway.

If they have no reason to check, they won't.
This has a high chance of success, so I'm very Interested In the outcome.

Just be mindful that controllers have serial numbers in the battery Compartment. If you return with the new box they may cross check the numbers that's all that could make this SE fail.
But very easy to do i used to swap around 5 a week over nice little profit in these.

It was a success and it was extremely simple. I just said i purchased it for somebody and they wanted a different colour that i knew they didn't stock.

I didn't know this, that's a bit of an odd place for a serial number to be, the controller would need to be opened up if there was any doubt and most companies would avoid doing this. Very poor from Sony.
How did you make profit? Buying cheap broken ones in bulk and then swapping them? Did you sell to people you knew or did you sell online?

Good to read.
As I've mentioned above, I was very confident that this would succeed.
Well done.
