Does amazon check S/N’s on GPU’s? 08-10-2019, 01:16 AM

So I currently have an Nvidia GPU that id like to swap with a higher end model on amazon. Physically they both look identical, same size and all, but the S/N is marked on the backplate.
I suppose I could swap the backplate, but then I’m left with a weird bastard GPU If I ever have an issue.
Do amazon returns folk actually check this? Or do they just check item looks like the box and weighs the same?
And do they ever install the GPU’s in a system to be able to see if it’s not the right one? I only ask this because I’ve gotten a warehouse deals GPU before that was defective that had a sheet saying it was tested...

Whether they check, depends on their workload.
Why not opt for the wrong Item received method?

Alternatively, and just thinking off the cuff here could you purchase a PC that has the card in you want. Swap the card and send the PC back claiming it's blue screening a lot or some other fault.

I would do the wrong item, but my GPU is not currently listed so I imagine it would be obvious that they didn’t have any to potentially send as a wrong item.
The only one with that GPU is about $3500 CAD, don’t really want to front that much incase something goes bad and I’m stuck with it.

How heavy is a typical GPU that's similar to 2080ti?

I can tell you about my experience
I recently got a Geforce GTX 1050 mini 2 gigs from the Facebook marketplace, I paid 60$ for it, then I ordered the same video card from amazon,
but the 4 gig mini version, it that was selling at 244$, what I did is swap the stickers on the video card (serial model and PN) I use a hairdryer to heat the stickers and make the swap.
replaced everything as original, and also put it back in the amazon shipping box, then... I smashed the box by jumping on a corner to make it look like it was damaged in the shipping process,
so immediately asked for a refund as damaged item/box, it worked but you gotta make this process fast so it won't look suspicious, like an hour after receiving the package, it did the trick and worked for me.
