I got into PGR because I wanted a new hack and slash to play.

That's honestly fair enough, they both have a good quality anyways. If you're every interested lmk. I have two accounts for the game both in sea server

The PC port of PGR is honestly fantastic. 120 hz, higher res textures, enhanced effects, and native controller support. Its not wrapper its an actual pc target build. PGR sets the gold standard on how you port a mobile game to pc.

It definitely does and it's already outperforming their competitors for gatcha games (Hoyoverse's Genshin Impact mainly).

To be fair, optimizing open world vs. instanced play is a very different scope. Wuwa was really rough when it first launched, iirc.

However in a shorter span of time they've outperformed Genshin, especially with their animations. Hoyoverse tends to hire third parties to make animations for them like MAPPA for example, while WuWa has their own in network animation team.

HoYoverse has historically relied heavily on outside animation studios for major animated projects. For example, Genshin’s long-running anime project is associated with ufotable, while HoYoverse has also worked with various external studios for promotional animation.

Kuro Games has now gone in the opposite direction with Kuro Onroad, its own in-house animation brand. Kuro officially announced Wuthering Waves: Elysium in July 2026, with Kuro Onroad producing it.

No doubt, Mihoyo has a massive budget and ufotable did stuff for Fate/SN. But my point was more on the fact that optimizing a game that is open world is very different than optimizing a game that's instanced. Comparing apples to oranges, in a way.

Difference is when your computer/phone only has to process individual dungeons or stages, versus an entire overworld. It's why Genshin/Wuwa will be a lot more resource heavy than say Hi3/PGR. Simply on the basis of how large the maps are and NPCs/structures that need to be rendered in the distance. Gliding over an entire region in Genshin will require better specs than running a single instanced stage in Hi3.

I don't think Kuro is bad, but they aren't any better at optimization when you compare the right titles. Wuwa had some really bad performance issues when it first came out, but it was comparable to Genshin in performance when they improved it. Something like Hi3 or PGR will run much easier. Not because of optimization, but because the gameplay is instanced rather than open world.

Yeah, that makes sense. I agree that open world games are naturally going to be more demanding than instanced games because there’s way more going on at once. You’re constantly loading the environment, NPCs, buildings, effects and everything around you instead of just one contained area.

You say that but historically mobile ports to PC have been poor or an afterthought. Yes PGR is instanced but we need to acknowledge that they treated PC players with respect. The PC port can at times actually feel like its a AA title. It punches up it's weight.

I don't doubt it's properly optimized or that the PC port is clean. Wuwa has pretty decent optimization now, too.

I was originally referring to this.

Only because they're vastly different. Genshin launched on PC and mobile at the same time, with 4K/super-sampling. If we were comparing Mihoyo and Kuro titles, the fairest comparison would be to compare Genshin and Wuwa. Both were open-world, cross-platform at launch, and more demanding spec-wise. A better comparison would be Hi3 and PGR, as both are instanced and only launched on mobile originally.

I don't think any of these have bad optimization, just different resource requirements from being different games. Gliding and travelling across massive regions is very much a Genshin/Wuwa problem.
