Dell Monitor SE #1
Hi,

I've recently tried to SE a Dell monitor. I used the S/N method and they accepted a replacement. They notified me that they would issue the replacement first and then I would have to send back the defective monitor.

When I got to the last step of the replacement (they wanted me to take a picture of my case number written down on a piece of paper and have it put next to the sticker on the back of the monitor), I saw in the e-mail that I would be liable to send back the defective unit.

If it wasn't sent back within 10 business days, I would receive an invoice for the full price of the item by Dell. If I didn't pay the invoice, they would send it to a collection agency.

I decided to NOT pursue and simply ignored their e-mail requesting that picture of the paper next to the sticker.

Keep in mind that was 7 days ago. This morning I got an e-mail saying my replacement has been approved and they will send the new unit in the next 48 hours. I never intended to pursue this.

What should I do. How can I tell them to cancel a replacement request without sounding fishy and raising suspicion that I was trying to SE the product?
Can I simply refuse to take the package when delivered and have it sent back to them?

Thank you

Do this and send them what they want.

Providing proof is not the issue here.

The issue is they've approved the replacement unit to be sent WITHOUT me providing any of the proofs they have requested.

If I don't send the original unit back, they will send me an invoice and I'll have to deal with a collection agency if I don't pay it.

I need help to get myself out of this situation.

1) Either deny the package sent to me.
2) Return the package they sent
3) If anyone has a method I could use to pursue the SE and have this done successfully, it would be appreciated

Thank you

It's the best way of aborting the SE I can think of.
Should they contact you about it later on, just reply after a couple of days saying something like "I had a bad accident and ended up in hospital, I'm not home, I'll eventually contact you again in the future", then you never do
Everything I post here is fictional. Anything mentioned on my posts that corresponds to events that happened in real life is coincidental.

What courier do they use? Probably ups. If you get the label and you will have to send it back around your country, you should ftid it. I can help you with that.
The last option you can do it’s sent back the new monitor.

You should’ve used a drop address for this really. I suggest you just ignore the carrier if you are worried about the debt collection agency.

You've answered your own question:

Quote:I decided to NOT pursue

Contact them and ask who authorized the replacement.
