Deciphering Fake News #1
So as we all know, the advent of fake news is not a new phenomenon. The good news is that now a lot more attention has been attracted to the subject which implies that we have the possibility of fixing it.

How do you guys sort through fake news?

Personally, I look through several sources liberal, democratic, republican, etc and try to come to a consensus with that. Further, I look through civilian reports, and mix in my own personal beliefs on the reliability or possibility of whatever occurred. I usually try to wait 4-5 days, maybe even a week sometimes for additional info as there almost always is more to the story.

We find a source that's proven to be authentic in everything that they do. They actually go out and investigate the news that they're reporting. Once we find a reputable source, and that source is rewarded (by their large audience), then others will feel like doing the same. Then we'll start to have more authentic sources for news. And all that "fake news" will be trashed by their lack of audience.

See that would be the ideal solution however you seem to be forgetting about the people who won't look for the good sites. This is, unfortunately, a large amount of Americans and these individuals will stick to their shit locations for news thus still helping them. How do we deal with that?

I don't think that can be stopped. Americans lack intelligence so that means those that have some brain cells will benefit from them I guess Biggrin

I don't think it's just "Americans" who lack brain cells. Humanity in general usually goes the easiest route... aka "lacking in brain cells."

Best way to find out if news is fake?
Fact checking.
Look up the same subject. If it's something like the PewDiePie scandal, go to the actual video to see what was really said.
Never trust any media source, always fact check.

Lol, pewdiepie??

He got called out by the Wall Street Journal for being an anti semite, and a Nazi supporter. Taking all of his jokes out of context.

If you watch the videos and hear his tone of voice / what he says before and after. You can obviously tell he is not either of those things.

You can't really trust anyone you don't know whether they're online or offline. That's my take.

OFFTOPIC
@pvnk How do you not know who Pewdiepie is?!?! He's like the biggest/richest Youtuber out there.
(PS. I do not watch his trash.)
