Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 is out now. The second iteration of Edgerunners will follow a new set of characters, compared to the first season.

Loved the first one, so I'm looking forward to watching.

A 10-episode standalone anime series on Netflix follows an interconnected ensemble cast navigating the brutal underworld of Night City. Shifting away from a single protagonist, the story weaves together the lives of Weak, a veteran merc surviving without his chrome; D, a nomad netrunner seeking revenge for his wiped-out clan; and Roman, a young filmmaker capturing the city’s harsh realities on analog video. Together with Talia, a runaway teen who joins the violent Maelstrom gang, and her desperate corpo mother Avida, the series delivers a high-octane exploration of revenge, legacy, and survival in a neon-drenched dystopia.

The first season was one of my favorite watches on Netflix, so this is good news. I like that they went with a whole new cast instead of trying to continue David's story — it was too perfect to touch. Planning to binge all 10 episodes this weekend.

I've only watched a couple episodes so far, but it's very different from the first iteration. One element I absolutely loved was the understanding of lore they've already shown.

After watching the first season or playing the game, most people understand that cyberpsychosis usually ends in death. In one of the first scenes, there's a cyberpsycho (Weak/King) who has Platinum-coverage with Trauma Team. He starts mowing down Arasaka and killing people in public. MaxTac (NCPD's response team) arrives to shut him down, but is prohibited from intervening by Trauma Team's extraction squad.

Platinum-coverage is one of the very few ways a cyberpsycho can survive, as MaxTac will usually kill them on the spot. His chrome is later repo'd by the ripperdocs and his house is foreclosed to cover the recovery bill. A simple scene, but I love that it shows the different factions and how the order of Night City is not ruled by a government... but by corporations and eddies.

After finishing, I'd say it's excellent. Wouldn't compare it to season 1 since it's practically a different genre. Apples to oranges, but in a very good way.

D (also coincidentally named David) from Season 2 is completely from David Martinez from Season 1.

David from Season 1 is very much a separate person and still dead in Season 2. D from Season 2 is a totally new person. While all of them are interconnected lore-wise, as candidates for the engram of Capri... they are two totally different people. I thought maybe Martinez would return some form, but it was mostly just references. Both Davids end up dying by the end of their seasons. Typical Cyberpunk fashion.

It was really cool to see King, Talia, and Roman survive at the end. Very different from Season 1, in my opinion. Some people might not like the change in pace or multiple characters, but I enjoyed it a lot.

Great season! I actually prefer this over S1. Went from a superhero fantasy turned tragedy to actually getting a slice of life feel of Night City which I've always wanted.

I like that season 2 showed more of the other factions. You didn't as much of Maelstrom or Kang Tao in the first season.
