Curry's boxing, multiple items #1
As per title. Order will be a mac, DJI camera and small desktop accessory. Total will be just under 3k GBP. Plan is returning a box with dry ice of just over matching weight to original parcel weight of all items combined. Curry's do DPD pick up only, so will make sure it gets picked up Friday afternoon to allow enough time for dry ice to sublimate. Return box will be properly vented for c02 to not build up. Also cut a hole in the box on one end and tape it up with different style of tape, giving the appearance that it got opened in transit. Circa a week After tracking says delivered they will be contacted for a refund to be processed. Will be via PayPal also just incase.

First time utilizing this method, so any advice / suggestions welcome. Progress will be updated.

Wouldn't hurt to also attempt FTID simultaneously, but AFAIK when dpd collect your shit the driver makes his own label and puts it on, therefore not a possibility

Why boxing? Curry's don't respond to their PP claims normally

I wouldn't do FTID if you're boxing. While it may work splendidly, they may find it fishy that the label is modified. Dry ice boxing works perfectly on its own. With FTID the goal is for them to dispose of the package, and receiving an empty box is a little suspicious. I would go with one or the other. Just a personal thought, I'd like to hear some more input.

I think instead of cutting a hole, ripping off/cutting through the first tape and then (sloppily) re-taping may be better?

It seems the SE Is over-complicated, hence susceptible to failure.

Is the DNA out of the question?

Yes, delivery is with DPD, I already have an open case with them from ASOS.

Also it's always the same DPD driver that delivers, and he's already extremely careful when coming to mine

I see your point and you're absolutely correct.

The dry Ice seems like the best option. Do calculate the delivery time, and allow enough dry Ice for sublimation.

The only variable I'm uncertain about is DPD weighing the parcel and when they will do this. As Curry's only offers for DPD to pick it up from your house.

I intend on having it picked up on a Friday afternoon, so there is atleast a whole weekend for it to sublimate. However Im uncertain of when they will weight the parcel, if at all, thus making it hard to predict how much extra dry ice I should pack to compensate for this window.

It's probably not the best Idea to do this on a Friday- quite difficult to calculate sublimation during storage.

For cost of freight (weight or volume whichever Is the greater) and record keeping purposes, carriers take weights & dimensions of all packages at their depot. As such, when using dry Ice, It's best to have the package delivered to Its destination as quick as possible. This will minimize Inconsistencies In weight from dispatch, to the depot and to the receiver.

Interesting. I thought exactly this too as it's most logical. However from my research I found a vast amount of people on other forums saying to do the weekend method. Perhaps they do this deliberately to mask their own methods.

The only concern is if its too heavy and has too much dry ice, and gets delivered to the return warehouse in such a time frame that the dry ice hasn't all sublimated... That wouldn't be ideal.
