Console blocked (Amazon) #1
Hi all, SE'd the XB1X. Got a little lucky because the delivery company never marked it as delivered. Still "on the way".

After a couple weeks, it stopped connecting to online servers and is unable to play any game online, giving me error codes.
The PS4 Pro beside it works fine.

Was wondering if this has happened to anyone.

Anyway to undo this? Some suggest to contact Microsoft, but I'm sure they can see that Amazon has(d) the console, and say "this console is stolen."

I've heard of this becoming more common recently. There was a thread regarding a Nintendo Switch where something similar happened. Since the Xbox is new, I would contact Microsoft and tell them it stopped working. Just say you bought it on Ebay/Craigslist/Offerup. They might be able to unblock it from their end. If you try this, please update this thread and let us know what they said. If they're blocking consoles, they'll tell probably tell you more about it which can help the community with future SEs. Alternatively, it's probably still under warranty so you could claim it with that and get a new one. Just be smart enough to not send it to the same address as the old one. lol.

I'm worried about contacting Microsoft because of the off chance the customer service rep actually digs an inch deeper, looks up the serial ID, sees that Amazon had possession, and contacts Amazon.
"Um sir, it looks like it was ordered by you. Amazon has the same name and address on file as we do. You said it was bought locally by who?"

All my info matches up to my Amazon account and my Microsoft account. Put 2 and 2 together, and I would be royally fucked by 2 of the largest companies in the world. Well, if they care enough.

Kinda bitter I bought a year of gold and some games though. But is it worth the risk? I am a little worried regardless, to be honest. Who knows what loss prevention officers do for 40 hours a week.

EDIT: And honestly, I didn't plan this out too well. I just didn't expect the console to get locked.

I wouldn't worry about M$ and Amazon being in contact with each other. Not over a $300 xbox at least. If you're that paranoid, remove your account from the xbox, create a new one with different info, then make the call. If they ask just say that was your friend's account that he let you use to test the xbox since it wasn't working. You can call through Google phone (or any of the other 100 websites) if you need a disposable number.

I think your issue is you know you're guilty so you're thinking of the worst-case scenarios. Just call and act like a dumb 16 year old who just spent his burger-flipping check on an xbox through craisglist and it won't work.

The warranty thing will work too. You don't need to mention anything other than it won't connect to online services (maybe say it seems laggy or something as well). It's been a while, but they used to send you a prepaid box within a couple days. Then you ship the xbox off and they send you a new one once they've received it. You shouldn't get the same console back so it won't be your problem from there.

If the rep seems like they're going to escalate things, hang up and call back later to speak with someone else.

I factory reset my Xbox in offline mode, and it seems to be working now. I'm very confused. Still using the same account.

I am almost certain this will only be temporary, if my console is actually locked. Before I tried hard resetting, unplugging modem, restarting.. same errors.

Either the console has some weird lock-delay, and I'll get the same error sooner or later, or something was just corrupted. Either way, I'll keep the thread updated.

I wouldn't think a hard reset would have anything to do with the console being blocked once it's connected online. See how it works for you though. If it messes up again I'd just contact M$ and see what they say. If your console is going to be blocked regardless, then calling M$ can't hurt.

I assume Amazon haven't contacted you to verify receipt of the Item.

Given It's been a couple of weeks with no known Indication of the Item's status, as far as Amazon Is concerned (supported by "still on the way"), It's lost In transit and you've never received It. On these grounds, the probability of the console being blacklisted Is less likely.

As mentioned, contact Microsoft.

Don't be scared, people are constantly buying/selling consoles, tech in general, I'm certain from the time it was purchased to now it could have been sold for various reasons.
