Before I start the thread id like to clarify that im not a newbie when it comes to this stuff, and I DO NOT condone using RATs for malicious purposes. So this problem arose about a week ago and didnt really take notice until now. Once I took notice I tried setting up a client with Nanocore that I can run myself. I made sure I typed my DNS in correctly, and even checked if my ports were still forwarded. Of course after running for over a minute (Nanocore shouldnt take longer than that) I killed the task and then tried making a server with Orcus. This time instead of using port 1337, I deleted that port and forwarded a new port, port 5978. I ran the server and tried to log into it on Orcus and after double checking I typed the password correctly, still no luck as this time I got this error "Connection refused". So im not sure what the problem could be since im still trying to figure it out. Please send help my way as soon as possible!

Are you sure your ISP Is not blocking the said port? Have you tried various other ports?

Check if that port is really open, a great tool for that is canyouseeme

Ive only tried one other port. I guess ill try that out.

Do just that and reboot your router on each port you try.

As @Pikami mentioned above (which I'm sure you'll do so), check If the port Is open.

Yes I have actually tried canyouseeme but back when port forwarding worked when I tried I always got errors but they still worked.

I should've mentioned what you've just stated about canyouseeme. I certainly agree.

In my experience, It's not the most reliable of services. When I setup my IDS (Intrusion Detection Systems) and had to port forward the gateway, canyouseeme Indicated the port was closed when In fact traffic was flowing. There are alternatives, here's a few:

Disable everything that may be blocking outgoing connections- firewall (router Inclusive), VPN, etc. Basically establish a direct gateway of communication with the server. As mentioned, some ISPs block certain ports so try many port variations.

I do have one other question. Does it make a difference if you use the same starting port as your ending port?
