Basically, a Rube Goldberg machine is a contraption, invention, device or apparatus that is deliberately over-engineered or overdone to perform a very simple task in a very complicated fashion, usually including a chain reaction.

What's the most complicated way you can print 'Hello, World!'? You may use any language.
Please include annotations/pseudo-code to clarify what you're doing, for people who may not understand your solution's programming language.
I'll post my attempt later.

Language: Ruby
Code:$sorted = [] $letters = Hash.new $letters["5"] = " " $letters["1"] = "e" $letters["2"] = "l" $letters["8"] = "r" $letters["0"] = "h" $letters["3"] = "l" $letters["4"] = "o" $letters["10"] = "d" $letters["9"] = "l" $letters["6"] = "w" $letters["7"] = "o" def hello_world i = 0 $greeting = "" loops = $letters.count loops.times do if $letters.has_key?("#{i}") $sorted[i] = $letters["#{i}"] end $greeting = $greeting + $sorted[i] i += 1 end puts $greeting sleep end hello_world
What it's doing is sorting the $letters Hash into the $sorted Array, then putting each letter into the greeting variable through a loop, all in a defined method.
After that, the method is run.
