Car rentals? #1
Haven't seen much of this, and was thinking of brainstorming with you lot how to SE a car rental company (big companies).
There seems to be a bit on how to SE hotels and airlines, but somehow nothing for the inbetween bit.

Tried with Avis UK, there are 3 pricings. Pay online, Pay on the phone, Pay on site.
So I made the booking over the phone (for whatever reason, my cc didn't work or their side didn't work) but complain a bit saying that the cc works with other merchants, so whats the issue here and if they're nice enough, they'll lower the pay on site price to match that of online or the occasionally even lower "on the phone" price.

For this to work, you may need an existing account with a track record of rentals.

Not sure if this counts as SEing, but we've managed to get a free car upgrade by complaining that we didn't realise that the car we booked was going to be so small, or that we don't feel safe flying down the highway in a tiny thing and we ended up with a C-Max instead of a Focus/Fiesta.

Thats all I've done with them so far.

You guys wouldn't happen to have any other genius ideas on how to get either upgrades or heavier discounts off these companies?  Cool
