Boxing without dry ice? 12-21-2020, 10:42 PM

I never go to the post office, so maybe it's nothing new, but thought it could be worth a shot.
I went to royal mail today (not SE related), the clerk scanned my label, then I had to put it on the scale, and once it weighted the package and the clerk gave me the receipt, I had to bring it myself to the end of the post office, and put it with the other packages that people sent.
I don't know if this system is new, I assume it's because of Covid, so that less employees would be touching the packages.
Anyway, my thought is: wouldn't it be possible to fake the weight on the first scale, maybe by having a small weight held with blue tack under the package, that you can remove afterwards?
Of course it would be hard to do with heavy packages, but maybe for 1 to 5kg?
What do you think? Would royal mail wonder about the missing weight later on, if they have to weight it again?
I don't think I'd try it myself as I'm really not confident in public, and would turn bright red, but I hope the idea can help you guys.
