Best way to convince someone to give you a refund instead of a replacement? 10-07-2020, 07:43 AM

I did a successful eb for some coloured contacts. However instead of a refund, they have offered to send me a replacement. This is great and all, however I don't really need 2 pairs of the same colour. Is there any way I can convince them to send me a refund instead? I was thinking about saying that they were for my daughter, and she needs them by a certain date. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Say. Due to the item being incorrect faulty or not arriving you had to buy them elsewhere so they’re no longer needed.

I usually go along the lines with saying it was a gift so had to buy one in person therefore do not need a refund.
In cases of contact lenses I'd simply say I no longer need them as I had to buy them in person on the day delivery was due as a result of the issue with the order.

Just tell them that due to their incapacity of delivering the product the correct day you have already purchased it.

The gift method as above will work of course. Remember that there is nothing "suspicious" about asking for a refund rather than a replacement; most people would be deterred from a business if their product/service couldn't, for example, arrive on time.

A gift is a solid one, definitely the best option

Said my daughter needed them urgently so we already bought a replacement. Managed to bargain with them to receive store credit. Thanks everyone :)
