Hi there everyone, I wanted to get other peoples opinions and overall just make a source for users looking to get the best bang for their buck when it comes to building a computer, this is dedicated to posting what hardware, might be slightly dated and cheaper, but still does the job just as well, whether it is a Xeon processor from 5 years ago that won't be good for a modern-day server now but is good for a gaming computer or even just places to get refurbished deals. Please post any parts you can think of, not just specific sales, but actual models. For example I feel that the i7 3770 is one of the best processors as far as price to performance goes, its slightly older yes, and it takes a weird socket (LGA 1155) but its quad-core 3.6 GHz, I have three, one for a virtual reality computer that is paired with an EVGA 1080 FTW2 ICX card and one in my desktop paired with an MSI GTX 970.

The best deals are the ones you make with well thought out, planned builds. In my experience, the best performers aren't the most expensive. Pay close attention to what you want to do with your build, airflow, and the environment you plan to use it in.

I agree completely, however, I'm just talking about specific parts that are crazy good deals, for example, the 3770 was in a lot of the Dell Optiplex computers so most schools who are getting upgrades are trashing or selling the computers super cheap. that's why I have three of them.

For the parts these days, it's getting cheaper. I usually go to the local IT shop that get's all the parts from the manufacturer.

I still have my laptop purchased around 6 years ago with the Core I7-2630QM. I honestly cannot fault It's performance.
