Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos with the Frozen Throne expansion. The game is just amazing overall - it's one of the best RTS games that I know of anyways. While there are a few games that are considered more "classic" like C&C (Which is absolutely amazing by the way) WC3 is what I've got the most experience with.
With solid gameplay, a nice campaign, great multiplayer, tons of custom games to keep you coming, and a community that still exists after fourteen years, it's been on all of my computers I've owned and on the main family computer since the base game came out. It runs on about any PC or Mac that you can get your hands on nowadays which is always a bonus for me as I usually just carry my old Thinkpad Z61t which runs Windows XP anyways, has the most playtime out of any game I own, and has been the staple of most-all LAN events that I've run or been a part of throughout my life so far - it's like you took all the good things from the first two Warcraft games and StarCraft and made them into a big bundle of awesome.
Now for a little bit of disagreement,

Well...
- A singleplayer mode that lasts more than four hours on the harder difficulty settings after you get the hang of it and can instead offer a solid challenge.
- A multiplayer mode that isn't clunky Halo gameplay on small CoD-sized maps with gimmicks to draw people in to it.
- Something other than the clunky and repetitive execution mechanic if not just getting rid of it altogether.
- A soundtrack that's actually noticeable over everything else going on that actually lives up to the original two - I got more of an ambient NiN Quake soundtrack vibe than anything which isn't what I expected for a DOOM game.
...would've made me actually like the game instead of writing it off as another generic shooter with a classic old name slapped on top to bring people in, but maybe that's just the bit of me talking that's put around a thousand hours into playing and modding the original two that didn't want just a new, hi-res version of Brutal DOOM. Don't get me wrong, it isn't a bad shooter - the base mechanics are done very well and without some stuff like the executions the pacing is a lot faster than some modern stuff which I loved - but to be honest, I'd rather let John Romero "make me his bitch" and just play Daikatana as at least with the community patch to fix the AI and glitches up the game takes more involvement to beat and has some innovative elements to it. Maybe I went into the new DOOM with my expectations too high, but in my mind it was a $60 letdown.
