Be careful with chargebacks. #1
Just a quick PSA.

A chargeback is a last resort, and should not be done more than twice per year, per bank account. Furthermore, chargebacks do NOT legally absolve you from the debt, even if the card comapny rules in your favor. Depending on the size of the business or price of item, they can and will take you to civil/small claims court, where they will likely win depending on their evidence. Thus, use good judgement when using chargebacks. Will doing a chargeback for an iphone from Apple/ Best Buy result in legal action? Probably not. But if you did a chargeback on a $30000 bust down rolex, that is a completely different story.

In my country (Germany) charge backs on real life accounts, is useless!

They will send you an invoice and if you dont pay, they will, as you said, take it to court and win. Well they won the case, but you are still able to contest and defend yourself (pls take a lawyer)

Yeah, in that case only do chargebacks from merchants outside your country.

I would not recommend this too, **if** the company also operates in your country

30k Rolex? No way would you ever win that chargeback..

-Doing some research consumers file an average of 6 disputes a year with the average dispute around $100.
-Over half and up to 75% of disputes are suspected to be “friendly fraud”.
-50% of consumers don’t even contact the merchant or return the item before filing a dispute.
-Non refundable chargeback fees cost the merchants between $20-$50 per dispute. Paypal charges $20. But if you appeal a lost dispute where it was just the 2 banks trying to resolve it, it goes to arbitration where a Mastercard or Visa arbitrator will decide and that fee can costs the losers bank up to $500 in fees. Your credit card won’t pass that on to you but the merchants bank will to them.

Bottom line if the retailer is being a dick file a chargeback out of spite and dispute it if you lose so even if they dont refund you it costs them money anyway.

And after losing so much already in fees the merchant is unlikely to take you to small claims court which is capped at $5000-$10,000 depending on the state, where more fees and legal representation will cost them even more money.

Exactly, people need to be more cautious when doing this shit. My whole point was to utilize chargebacks intelligently, as banks will not be too happy if you're constantly spamming chargebacks. Furthermore, to reiterate my last point, a chargeback refund is not a voluntary refund from the merchant, and thus they may go after you in court depending on the price of the item or the size of the business.

Most of the chargebacks are done for even less than 1k, I know people who do them on like 1-2 per year with different bank accounts and don't have any problems.
I don't believe in what I say. Everything is just fictional and made for a good laugh.

I don't answer PM.

Yeah that's why most SEers have multiple bank accounts with different card schemes. Helps to diversify the risk of having too many chargebacks on one account.

Always to be used as last resource, and it has to matter because there is no sense in charging back for 200$ earphones
