As I said in my presentation, I recently reinstalled backtrack 5 (this time r3) and tried to see if I could crack a WEP network (I have wireless at home so this was just a test).
airmon-ng, airodump, aireplay, etc etc etc all worked, found networks and everything... with the exception that I got NO #Data at all, injection tests were always 0/30 or if lucky 1/30, even my own network had 0/30, and I was close to the router.
That is one of the problems, then when using airodump-ng again, I noticed that some of the stations appeared below, but the bssid always said (not associated).
With that in mind I thought that maybe since it was a fresh install, I needed to update my drivers, but the problem is, I cannot connect to ANY wireless network, be it my own or even an unprotected network (one of those public services that you go to their site, log in and have internet access almost everywhere). The problem here is that whenever I try to connect to any network it says: "Unable to get IP address"...
on a side note, when I run airodump I get lots of stations and APs, and after a while there are so many APs that I only see one or 2 stations down on the terminal, I assume they get cut out due to size, like when the window is small and the AP names get cut unless they are being updated... so is there a code or something to make everything appear even if there's no room?
In short, here is what I need to know:
1- Why do I get no data from any AP and why doesn't injection work?;
2- How can I see which drivers and updates do I need for backtrack?;
3- How do I solve the "Unable to get IP address issue"? (I have no cables to connect the computer physically, I need to do it wireless);
4- How do I see the APs associated to the stations;
5- How can I see all data, APs and stations when using airodump-ng?
I think that's all for now... I am in a dualboot computer by the way, backtrack can access the windows data but not vice versa.
