What exactly are you using?
Laptop with wifi onboard? A wifi usb adapter perhaps?
In both cases; which one (what make/build/etc)?

Classic cable modem that have WiFi..but i cant see all otheres wifi's arround , in Windows i can see 15 neigbhour wifis

I assume you are running this from a persistent USB or installed into the HDD.

From that the OS has detected the card but no drivers have been installed or they are blacklisted have a look inside
/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf and see if "Atheros" is listed in there if so just add an # to the front of the line to comment it out and restart the system.

If they are not listed try:
apt-get install linux-backports-modules-wireless-lucid-generic
and restart the system this should install the necessary drivers.

Try adding the Ubuntu repos to backtrack it should be in there blacklist looks OK failing that see if the vendor has a Linux driver on their website
