But, I was told if the phone had apple, it would be liable for a loss claim. With my current case, the forrest, iPhone catching fire and whatnot, they would have to offer me a replacement without any trouble. (I still have to test this, just looking for an iPhone with AppleCare)

For your reference, Apple offer what's called a "one-time exception" per account. It's hidden within their policy, and unbeknownst to many people.

What It means, Is that they'll Issue a refund/replacement without having to return the Item.
